A SHORT FILM
CREW
Jesse Ung (Writer/Director)
This story is very special and very personal to me as the writer/director. Male body image issues are way more pervasive in our culture than most people think (especially amongst queer men), and while this is not a film with any particular message, I want to shed light on how this affects young men in an insightful way. Films never capture the nervousness and isolation a person feels walking into a gym for the first time, and we want to capture this in an honest way.
Juliette Tubby (Producer)
Hi! My name is Juliette and I have such a passion for film. I’m in my last year of university and have been producing a Rocky Horror ShadowCast for the past three years and had the pleasure of performing at SkyCity. I compete my two horses in my spare time as well as working for a dog groomer. I have made a few short films but Grind is my biggest film yet.
I’m super excited to be part of this film. I’m looking forward to producing a short film that touches on important topics that aren’t a usual topic of discussion. Male body image is so important and Grind will be tackling these ideas of acceptance of all body types and breaking down macho barriers.
